Ross Deacon is co-founder of Vunked and leads platform architecture, simulation, and system modelling. He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from University of Glasgow and spent five years as a Systems Design Engineer at Thales, working across both Crawley and Glasgow offices.
At Thales Crawley, Ross designed radar systems, and in Thales Glasgow he worked on Early Warning Missile Detection systems — roles that involved complex system modelling, simulation, and safety-critical design.
While my background is in aerospace radar systems, my passion is applying that same safety-critical engineering mindset to van conversions. I believe campervan electrics should be as reliable as an aircraft black box. I personally bench-test every component we recommend, and I currently travel in a VW Crafter with a system I designed to handle Starlink and induction cooking off-grid.
I have always loved abstract ideas and large, challenging problems – reflected in my obsession with space. This led to me gaining a Masters in Aerospace Engineering and working as a Lead Systems Design Engineer for an Aerospace company. However, something was missing…
Used to travelling from a young age, I have always felt most alive when experiencing new adventures. Campervan life lets me experience that on a near daily basis and I want to make that possible for you too by building you a brilliant camper van electrics system.
I have swapped chasing the stars for chasing the mountains and beaches. Human beings were made to feel free and I absolutely love that I can now help people to re-imagine how they live their lives.
“Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out alive.”
